Clubs and Activities
Saucon Valley High School offers a variety of clubs and activities including Athletics, Competitive Clubs, Service Clubs, Music, Theater, and others. Students are encouraged to participate in the clubs and activities in order to enhance their overall High School experience. Some activities do have minimum requirements for participation.
Service Clubs
National Honor Society
Sophomores apply for selection to SVHS National Honor Society in the Spring of their Sophomore and/or Junior year.
National Honor Society is a student service organization that focuses on school and community service. Its four pillars are character, service, leadership and scholarship. Students must carry a 3.6 GPA to qualify for application. Acceptance is not guaranteed, and the application process is competitive.

LEO Club
LEO Club's parent organization is Lions International, and their local parent club is the Saucon Valley Lions Club. LEO is the youth branch of Lions Club, meant for students through age 18. Leo's pillars are leadership, experience, and opportunity. LEO Club raises money for charitable organizations and provides service for the school and community.
Meeting Time: LEO Club meets every other Monday from 2:30 to 3:30 PM

Competitive Clubs
Debate Team
Saucon Valley High School participates in the Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Debate Association. Each team member will specialize as a speaker, questioner, or rebuttalist. All debaters research and prepare speeches for two resolves each year. After the regular season, top debaters participate in LVIDA semi-finals. All debaters attend LVIDA finals, awards ceremony, and ice cream social at the end of the year.

Scholastic Scrimmage
The SVHS Scholastic Scrimmage participates in the PBS-39 Scholastic Scrimmage competition and various other academic competitions throughout the school year. Students participating in NAQT weekend competitions pay entry fees. We also compete in the Colonial League virtual tournament and the IU Academic competition. Practices include research, trivia games, and other activities to improve performance at competitions.

Model UN
Students in Model UN participate in a range of activities relating to international diplomacy, human rights, and current events. Each year, the club participates in the East Penn Model United Nations simulation at Lehigh University. Other activities may include creating PSA's for events such as the International Day of Peace, United Nations Day, and Human Rights Day.

Robotics
The High School Robotics Club is a dynamic and engaging community of students passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The club provides an opportunity for students to work collaboratively to design, build, and program robots for various challenges and competitions. Members gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, including mechanical design, coding, electronics, and problem-solving.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced builder, the Robotics Club welcomes students of all skill levels to learn and grow. Throughout the year, members participate in exciting projects, including local and regional robotics competitions, and have the chance to work with mentors and industry professionals. The club also promotes teamwork, leadership, and creativity, preparing students for future careers in engineering, technology, and innovation.

Class Officers
Class officers are elected positions by each class' student body. Class officers are responsible for assisting in organizing class activities, fundraisers, and other class activities. Additional responsibilities for the Junior class officers include organization of the High School Prom. Additional responsibilities for the Senior class officers include the organization of the bonfire, class gift, and organizing all future class reunions.

SGA - Student Government Association
SGA representatives are elected positions by each class' student body. The High School Student Government Association (SGA) is a student-led organization that empowers young leaders to represent their peers, voice student concerns, and make a positive impact on the school community. The SGA provides a platform for students to develop leadership skills, collaborate on school-wide initiatives, and help organize school wide events.

FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America)
Our Mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. We accomplish this through individual and group projects in the community and weekly meetings in which we have activities such as cooking, sewing, and charitable projects. To join you must have taken an FCS course or currently enrolled in a FCS course. Membership fee is $20. Financial assistance is available for membership fee. Participation for fundraising events is encouraged.

Paranormal Investigation Club
SVHS Paranormal Investigation Club allows encourages students to conduct their own research on any topics that fall under the category of paranormal, from UFOs, to cryptids, to disembodied spirits, students are encouraged to be skeptics and hold themselves to task in researching phenomena and finding evidence for their paranormal beliefs. Meant for students to enjoy themselves and share opinions and findings through discussion.

TV Morning Announcements
The Morning Announcements Team is comprised of student volunteers who record the high school morning show, "What's New at 7:32?" Located in HS 415, students acquire permission from their teachers to take a few minutes to anchor the announcements and/or operate the camera. The announcements are distributed to staff the following morning and are played in homeroom.

Big Panthers Little Panthers
Big Panthers Little Panthers is a club where high schools students are a mentor to students grades K-8. Big Panthers will have the same little panther through graduation! Throughout the year, activities are planned including team building, lunch buddies, crafts, and games. All panthers in BPLP can look forward to an end of the year field trip day!

Reading Team
The Reading Team is a group of students with a passion for literacy and recreational reading. Every spring there is a Reading Competition in which we participate with other area schools. During the competition, teams of students answer trivia type questions about the books from the year's list. The list changes every year and includes a nice mix of fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, prose, novels in verse and utilizes both contemporary and classic works. Prizes are awarded to the top three winners. Throughout the year the team meets in the library to discuss the books they have read from the list, practice answering questions created by members of the team, and generally have fun conversations. Opportunities are also available for field trips related to literary topics, such as the annual Teen Library Day at Kutztown University where students can hear a presentation from different young adult authors and have books autographed. The team will have to fundraise to attend trips.

Music
Marching Band
The Saucon Valley Panthers Marching Band is active from August-November each year. The band perform at all varsity football games, local parades, and marching band competitions. The band also travels to perform in places like Walt Disney World! The band is made up of musicians who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments as well as color guard members specializing in flags, rifles, and/or sabers. Marching Band members must attend 2 weeks of band camp in August and rehearsals 2-3 times per week as well as all performance opportunities. There are some costs associated with purchasing necessary personal equipment such as shoes, gloves, meals, etc.

Jazz Band
The Saucon Valley Jazz Band meets for after school rehearsals starting in November and continuing through May. The jazz band performs at local community events as well as jazz festivals. Students who participate in jazz band play saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, or percussion.

Percussion Ensamble
The Saucon Valley Percussion Ensemble is an exciting new opportunity for all students who are interested in playing a percussion instrument. The percussion ensemble rehearses November through May and performs locally and at competitions. Attendance at rehearsals and performances is mandatory. Please note that there are costs associated with Percussion Ensamble for participants.

Chamber Choir
Chamber choir is an auditioned group that meets every week after school. We perform on the Winter, Pops, and Spring concerts. Additionally we perform at community events such as at nursing homes, Light Up Night, athletic events and The Iron Pigs. Please come and join us in this honors choir! No prior experience necessary- just the love of singing.

Theater / Musical
The High School Theater Department offers two opportunities for performance throughout the school year. In the fall students have the opportunity to perform in a play. In the spring Saucon Valley's annual Musical Performance is staged giving students the opportunity to be involved both on and off stage. Rehearsals for the spring Musical begin in December and culminate with their performance in April.

Athletics
The Saucon Valley Athletic Department serves nearly 700 athletes grades 7-12 on 57 teams across more than 20 programs. Athletes must meet physical and academic eligibility for participation and practices/events take place 5-6 times per week while in season. For more information visit the Athletic page of the website.
